Lake is an expert in gene therapy analytics and applying biophysical/mass spectrometric methods to protein science.  With more than 28 peer reviewed publications, BLA/MAA submissions and FDA/EMA responses, Lake frequently speaks at leading scientific conferences.  “My science is the business.  The business is not science.”

Dorie A. Morgan

Director of Quality

Dorie A. Morgan

Dorie brings 15 years of quality and GMP experience to the BioAnalysis team. She started her career at Lyophilization Technology, Inc. as part of the quality group. Since then, she has held positions with Valspec, GlaxoSmithKline, and Abzena, supporting clients from development through commercial manufacture. She holds a BA from Muhlenberg College in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. She is a member of the Parental Drug Association and the American Society for Quality. Outside of the office, Dorie is a member of Phi Mu Fraternity, a habitual volunteer for Muhlenberg College, and president of Bristol Borough Thrive. She is passionate about advocacy for children with rare chromosomes and rare diseases.

John W. Burgner II, Ph.D.

John is a pillar in the field of Biophysics, Enzymology, and Biochemistry.  John obtained his Ph.D. from Purdue University and continued his post-doctoral studies under William Ray, a world expert in Enzymology. John continued his research career as a Research Professor until his retirement in 2009. During his tenure at Purdue, he brought AUC (Model E) to complement the Structural Biology programs. He was the first to bring the Beckman Coulter XLA and XLI instruments into routine use. His large body of work includes seminal papers on Dengue, West Nile, and Sindbis viruses. After his retirement from Purdue University, he accepted a role as an Adjunct Professor at VCU, where he continues to work and publish on viruses such as AAV.

Mercedes LaLand

Mercedes LaLand

Mercedes is the Senior Scientist at BioAnalysis LLC. She is responsible for the development and performance of biophysical methods for cGMP studies. She also assists with the supervision and management of the laboratory. She has extensive industry knowledge of analytical techniques. A large portion of her experience is working in Mass Spectrometry ranging from direct infusions to various coupled chromatography methods and analyzing data. She is a graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry.

Michael DeLion

Michael is an analytical chemist who has spent over 20 years in a variety of increasing leadership roles at pharmaceutical CROs (SSCI, Aptuit, and Triclinic Labs). As the Director of Analytics & Research at BioAnalysis, he is responsible for the operation of the laboratory, overseeing the scientific staff, and managing client projects. He is committed to sharing his extensive knowledge of cGMP, experimental design, and business development to help position BioAnalysis as a global leader in the biotech industry. Michael received his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN).

Natalya Figueroa

Natalya Figueroa

Natalya is a Research Associate at BioAnalysis LLC. She is a graduate of Rowan University with a Bachelor of Science in biophysics and a minor in chemistry. She also has a dual associate’s in engineering and Deaf studies. At BioAnalysis she splits her time between lab work, data analysis, and quality assurance. Natalya is committed to using her analytical skills to advance the gene therapy world.
